Judy has been sewing since childhood, quilting since the late 1970's. Traditional quilts attracted her initially, but she also enjoys exploring non-traditional avenues. About 15 years ago Judy began teaching patchwork and quilting. She finds it really exciting to watch others accept a concept or technique and run with it.
CLASSES
COLOUR-ME-HAPPY
This is a one day workshop suitable for those with all levels of experience who would like to explore the use of traditional colour relationships and combinations with fabric. A small quilt will be constructed to be used as a reference to stimulate ideas for future projects.
FRIENDLY FREDDIE 4-PATCH
Suitable for beginner or intermediate levels, this class can be scheduled over one (1) or two (2) days. The simple 4-patch block provides the basis for a scrap quilt top which will be started in one day or well-advanced (even finished) in two days. Colour, value, contrast and scale will be explored in a variety of quilt sizes.
QUILT-AS-YOU-GO BAGS AND/OR BOXES
Quilt-as-you-go eliminates the final process of sandwiching and quilting by combining machine piecing and quilting, block by block. The project is finished with relaxing hand stitching. This workshop uses a small project which can be finished in one day to teach the technique, while providing the skills to make a future quilt. Suitable for all levels of experience. (Boxes pictured below)
QUILT-AS-YOU-GO QUILT
Over two (2) days a quilt will be started with enough of the construction completed to provide a strong incentive to carry on and complete the quilt.
RECYCLING/CARD DAY
A one (1) day class which is suitable for everyone who would like to experiment with a wide range of machine techniques without committing to a specific project. Samples will be produced and made into individual and exciting cards. No expensive equipment lists. No UFOs!!
