Burswood Dome, Perth, Western Australia,

Thursday 24th May to Sunday 27th May 2001.

Hours: 9am - 5pm each day

PROFESSIONAL SECTION

There will be no separate categories within this section.

AMATEUR SECTION

1. Traditional - Pieced

2. Traditional - Predominantly Applique

3. Innovative - Non traditional

4. Beginner Quiltmaker (See definition)

NON-JUDGED SECTION

This section includes Group quilts, Challenge Quilts, Wearables, and Japanese quilts.

CHALLENGE QUILT

The “Challenge” quilts theme for 2000 was “Spots, Stripes, Checks and Plaids”.  These quilts will be displayed at QuiltWest.  These quilts do not count towards the total number of quilts that may be entered by a participant in QuiltWest.

Exhibition Definitions

PROFESSIONAL:  A Professional Quilter is defined as someone who:

bullet

Teaches or publishes in the field of quilting.

bullet

Sells, designs or participates in making quilts for financial gain.

bullet

Has won a “Best of Show” or two or more Blue Ribbons in any major judged competition, excluding Viewers Choice.

bullet

Having exhibited as a Professional, Amateur status cannot be resumed.

MAJOR SHOW:  Is defined as a State/Territory Guild judged competition, or a National/International Exhibition.

BEGINNER: Someone who has commenced and completed a quilt in the past 2 years and has not previously exhibited.

AMATEUR: All other quilters between the Professional and Beginner categories.

INNOVATIVE: Must be an original design or a new approach to a traditional design.

SMALL: Maximum of 125 cm, Minimum of 30 cm.

MINIATURE: Maximum of 50 cm in any one direction. Must be a scaled down design/pattern.
