ExhibitionsThe WAQA hold a general exhibition every year. This is open to all members and members may elect to have their work judged. This exhibition covers all types of patchwork and quilting. RetreatsRetreats are time away from home responsibilities with friends who share the love of quilting. An opportunity to quilt without guilt! No cooking, no housework, no family. SymposiaFor details of future symposia or to see photographs of past events click here. Friendship DaysThere are Friendship Days coming up in various suburbs of Perth. The Friendship Days are run as individual events by various groups. Some groups hold a Friendship Day once a year, some hold them every month. The hostess group usually charge a small fee which covers morning tea and you bring your own lunch, or they provide morning tea and lunch. The usual format is to have Show & Tell after lunch. Most Friendship Days start at approximately 10am and go through to about 3pm. For catering and seating purposes you will need to book a place. See the Calendar for details of the next one. Challenge QuiltsChallenges are held regularly to encourage members to extend their personal skills. WorkshopsInterstate, international and local tutors regularly give workshops to add to our knowledge and skills. Arrangements are handled by the International and Local Workshop Convenors. See the Calendar for details of the next one. LibraryAn extensive library of books, magazines, videos, frames, stencils and all quilting necessities are kept by the WAQA. There is a fee for this service. Email Faye Cunningham for more details. TeachersWAQA runs a Teacher Accreditation Program. All WAQA workshops and classes are conducted only by approved teachers. Quilter's Quarterly Magazine and NewsletterThe Quilter's Quarterly (QQ) is published in March, June, September and December and sent by snail mail to members of the West Australian Quilters Association. The QQ is a black & white, A4-size magazine which usually has 24 or more pages. If you would like an article included in the QQ contact the Editor, Joy van der Klift. For deadlines for each issue see the Calendar. In addition, the Secretary puts out a single page newsletter at each meeting to catch the newsworthy items between QQs. This newsletter is not mailed out. Community QuiltsWAQA members regularly make full size quilts for various institutions and little quilts for premature baby departments of some hospitals. Community AffairsMembers visit Retirement Villages, Hospices and Hospitals to share quilts and experiences.
